This project was to teach people how to prototype an Internet connected "Thing". We built the prototype hardware using the MKR1000 and a sparkfun sound sensor, wrote some very basic code to read the noise value from the ADC input, and then uploaded the data to each individuals adafruit.io account, to be graphed however they like. We also designed a very basic enclosure.
That is about as far as the project has progressed. We do not have a cost optimized device yet that can be rolled out on a larger scale, and we have not yet started on any portion of the software that would aggregate multiple sensors on one interface/map.
At this point, we are trying to raise some grant money to fund a larger scale rollout. If we are able to raise that money, several members of this project expressed interest in continuing to work on this project from both a hardware and software aspect. We will use this forum as a way of communicating next steps, so stay tuned to this thread!
Sorry we don't have more to offer you, but hopefully it at least lets you know there are people interested in working on a noise pollution project in the region!
